Heidrick & Struggles Head Office

Heidrick and Struggles is a multinational company whose principal activity is the sourcing of high level management personnel. The headquarters of H&S is located in Barcelona on the twenty-ninth floor of the Mapfre tower where a range of clients are attended – other multi-national companies and also national companies and smaller family-run businesses.

The Wortmann office proposed an interior design which would reflect the corporate values of the company – flexibility, teamwork, functionality- and sought to create an image consistent with the work ethic of the company –cosmopolitan and with a high level of quality.

The design, finding its inspiration in the Mediterranean, is developed on the theme of a regatta. The screening separating the offices is organised around a central circulation illuminated with ‘masts’ of light. The corridor is divided by glass panels in the style of ‘sails’ which create interplay of reflections and transparency. The spaces have been designed to maximise the flow of light and to afford access to the exterior views. The elements of the design, including materials such as pear wood and translucent glass over parquet flooring combine to create a flexible space conceiving an image of efficiency and comfort. The image is set off by furniture specially designed for the project.
